Crossing the Blues

Outer Banks

The Outer Banks is a 200-mile (320-km) long string of narrow barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina. It is a popular tourist destination because of its temperate climate and wide expanse of open beachfront. The Cape Hatteras National Seashore has four campgrounds which campers are sure to enjoy. The seas off the Outer Banks are treacherous and hold a large number of shipwrecks. The Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum can be found in Hatteras Village near the US Coast Guard.
